Samuel L. Jackson Explains How His Avengers Script Was Leaked

Back in April, Marvel proudly announced that its upcoming adaptation of The Avengers was underway, but that was soon overshadowed by rumors that a copy of Samuel L. Jackson's script was stolen and that production had been halted to allow writer-director Joss Whedon to do rewrites.

While rumors about the delayed production were proven false, it was true that Jackson's script was stolen. In an interview with The Examiner, the actor gave a brief explanation of the theft.

[Production on The Avengers surprised me] when somebody stole my script when I was in Canada and put it online. It happened back in April. I was amazed that they [The Avengers filmmakers and movie studio] sent private detectives to find out what happened. So somebody's in a lot of trouble. Not me though.

Shortly after the theft, Chris Hemsworth spoke out about the incident, claiming that the version that was pilfered was "pretty old", though Jackson would not confirm or deny that there were changes made to the script after his copy was taken.

"I can’t let fans know anything about that," said Jackson.

Production on The Avengers is ongoing, with Jackson reprising his role as Nick Fury, Hemsworth again playing Thor, Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, Chris Evans as Captain America, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, and Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow.

Tom Hiddleston, who reprises his role as the villainous Loki, recently revealed that seeing all the actors in their Avengers costumes was "everything everyone has been imagining except it's better." What Loki will be doing to bring together the superhero collective is unknown, but there are plenty of theories.
